CROSSGATES Community Council members are concerned about a planning application for more houses to be built in the centre of the village.

At their meeting last week the community council heard about a Section 75 - Planning application for 43 houses in John Reid's yard, in Dunfermline Road, that has been submitted.

Said secretary Liz Wheatley: "Residents have voiced concerns over vehicular and pedestrian access to this new housing estate in terms of adding to what is an already very congested area, at the entrance to Crossgates Primary School.

"The Community Council will have the opportunity to voice any concerns when or indeed, if, this application goes forward to the planning stage".

The Community Council is now in a position to electrify and then install approximately ten Christmas lights for 2019.

Fund-raising will take place specifically to provide lighting for a further ten lamp-posts and so enhance the village's environment at the festive period.

Christmas 2018 saw just the Community Garden fully lit as the lights supplied by them had become unable to pass safety tests.

Meanwhile Crossgates Greenfingers Group, whose task it is to enhance the floral appearance of the village, will hold their annual general meeting on Tuesday January 29 at 7pm in the Bowling Club.

All are most welcome and volunteers are always needed to maintain the planters and baskets around the village.

On Mossgreen Church Bell the Community Council will contact John Reid, who currently stores the original Mossgreen Church Bell.

The residents would like the Bell to be sited in Coaledge, near its original location, as an enhancement and to preserve the heritage of the village.

As far as mobile banking services are concerned notices will be displayed in the usual locations to advise residents of the times and places when the mobile bank, library and Post Office are in the village.

The next meeting of Crossgates Community Council will take place on Monday February 11 at 7pm and everyone is welcome.
