A GROUP of Cowdenbeath children impressed local MSP Annabelle Ewing with their knowledge of protecting the local environment.

Ms Ewing MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Cowdenbeath constituency, met with pupils from P5/6 at Cowdenbeath Primary School, and their teacher, Ms Harden to discuss local environmental issues.

Speaking following her visit, Ms Ewing said: "I was extremely impressed by the determination to have their voices heard shown by this fantastic group of young people.

“It was extremely clear that they care very much indeed about their local environment and the amenity of local places as well as about the health of our planet".

She added: “It really is great to see young people so engaged and keen to learn about what they can do to make where they live a better place.

“I want to thank them for inviting me along to their class and I can assure them that they have given me plenty of work to do following up on all their concerns!

"I will let them know what progress is made with Fife Council and the Scottish Government.”
