A WAKE up call from police officers didn't go down too well with one Ballingry man.

Paul Cusick reacted badly to the visit in the early hours of the morning and struggled with them when they tried to arrest him as he had outstanding apprehension warrants.

Appearing for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday, Cusick, 41, of Navitie Park, had earlier admitted that on July 19 last year at his home, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm when he shouted and swore, challenged police officers to fight and struggled with them in execution of their duty.

Depute fiscal, Dev Kapadia, said police had attended at around 3.15am to find Cusick's property was insecure and they found him in his bedroom.

"Officers identified themselves and informed him that there were outstanding apprehension warrants for him," he told the Court.

"He immediately became belligerent and said he would not be leaving the property and would not allow himself to be arrested.

"He was shouting and swearing and told them he would fight them all and throw them out of the property."

Solicitor, Ian Beatson, said his client had gone to bed and failed to lock his front door.

"Thereafter he was awoken by police in the early hours," he said.

"He was somewhat startled by this and was taken off guard.

"He appreciates they were only doing their job but unfortunately, in these circumstances, he accepts he acted in an inappropriate manner."

Sheriff Robert McDonald ordered Cusick to pay a £300 fine.
