A TEEN put a police officer in hospital after a party got out of hand.

Police were attending a house in Lochore after a complaint about noise coming from the property.

When officers got there at 9pm they could hear loud music coming from the house.

They were met at the door by Nelson who was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

They asked him if they could speak to the owner of the property, but that was denied.

His attitude was pretty terrible terrible toward the officers and even when a co-accused attempted to move him he still refused.

Nelson went towards one of the officers and attempted to strike him and and grab his stab vest.

He was told he was arrested and at this point he started to struggle with police.

He kicked out at the officer’s chin and he was forced to call for back up.

Officers were on the ground with the accused trying to restrain him. Police became out numbered by the people there and the environment was described as “hostile”.

They had to used spray to allow them to retreat to the police vehicle.

While in the van Nelson repeatedly spat at the same officer as before and hit his face.

The PC required xrays and pain relief after the incident.

Nelson, 19, of McGinlay Terrace, Lochore, previously admitted that on November 26 at his home address he did assault a police constable then in the execution of his duty, and did lunge towards him, did attempt to strike him on the body, attempt to seize his protective clothing, kick him on the head, struggle with him, cause him to fall on the ground, butt him on the head and repeatedly spit on his head, all to his injury.

Defence solicitor, Chris Sneddon, said: “He accepts full responsibility for this behaviour and can not quite remember a lot of what he did.

“He suffers from substance and alcohol abuse.

“He was taken into care at the age of 6 and his character is completely different when he is sober.”

Sheriff Robert McDonald said: “This was truly appalling, sustained violent behaviour towards a police officer.

“Your behaviour was such that he had to go to hospital.

“Despite your young age you have a bad record.

“This offence is at the top of the scale.”

Nelson was sentenced to 200 days in custody.
