POLICE in Cowdenbeath are investigating a spate of break-ins to garden sheds in Ballingry and Cardenden.

The CID have recently received reports of break-ins into four garden sheds in the Southfield Avenue area, of Ballingry, as well as a further break-in to a shed in the Muirtonhill Road part of Cardenden.

This has resulted in various items, including power tools, garden equipment and bikes, being stolen.

Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh, said: “Over the last few days we have received reports of break-ins to garden sheds in the Ballingry and Cardenden areas and I would like to remind people to remain vigilant about acquisitive crime.

“I would urge all homeowners to ensure that their valuable property is kept locked away and secured when not being used.

“Tackling acquisitive crime is a priority for police in Fife and day-in day-out we target resources to prevent such crimes from happening in the first place. No matter where you live no one can be complacent so please ensure your homes, garages and sheds are always secure and that your vehicles are locked".

He added: “We have dedicated a number of CID officers to investigating this series of crimes and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“If anyone recalls seeing any suspicious behaviour in the Southfield Avenue area of Ballingry or the Muirtonhill Road area of Cardenden, please get in touch on 101 and quote reference number 1967 of 6th January, 2019.”
