MORE than £30,000 is coming to the area in National Lottery funding.

Cowdenbeath MSP, Annabelle Ewing is delighted by news that four groups in her constituency have been successful in securing substantial funding after applying to National Lottery Awards for All Scotland.

Speaking on Thursday, Ms Ewing said: “Congratulations go to all those who have been involved in these successful grant applications. It is great to see these excellent local groups receiving much needed financial support".

Hearts of Beath JFC received a £6,900 National Lottery Awards for All Scotland grant from Big Lottery Fund which they will use to make improvements to their facilities at No 7 Park off Rowan Terrace, in Cowdenbeath.

Lochgelly Youth Theatre received a £4,500 National Lottery Awards for All Scotland grant from Creative Scotland which supported three performances of the pantomime "Jack and the Beanstalk" at the Lochgelly Centre. Around 50 young people from across West and Central Fife were involved in all aspects of the production.

Crossgates Community Woodland received a £10,000 National Lottery Awards for All Scotland grant from the Big Lottery Fund with which they will promote and maintain their woodland area in the village.

This was an historic project which saw the village's Community Woodland Trust become one of the first in the country to set up such a project.

Meanwhile Cardenden Play Park Committee received a £10,000 National Lottery Awards for All Scotland grant from Big Lottery Fund and the group will use the funding to make improvements to an outdoor space they run, and to buy equipment for a play park which will be used by the local primary school and community.

The committee is a group of parents who were concerned that Fife Council might no longer be able to maintain the play park and have been busy raising a large sum of money to purchase new equipment.

Ms Ewing added: "These are four diverse groups but the projects being supported will all help to enhance community life, particularly for young people in this area, in their different ways.

“I wish them all every success with the projects which have received support.”
