AN author is hoping that Times readers can help him trace information about a Cowdenbeath man who he believes helped capture leading Nazi, Heinrich Himmler.
Chris Mannion is the person tracking L/Sgt J Findlay, who joined the Tank Regiment to fight in World War 2.
He said: "Currently, I'm writing a book about the 73rd Anti-Tank Regiment and their WW2 service.
"In May 1944 a patrol from this regiment captured three German soldiers and one of them turned out to be the head of the SS, Heinrich Himmler.
"If people google this they may find lots of newspaper articles and a short documentary by the BBC on it.
"One of the men from 196 Battery, of the 73rd Anti-Tank Regiment, was L/Sgt J Findlay, and the address he gave when he joined the regiment was 31 Wemyss Street, Cowdenbeath.
"Sadly, I have had no result in my search for his relatives, hence it would be brilliant if anyone living in the town today is a relative of L/Sgt Findlay or knows about him".
Mr Mannion has a photo of the battery and J. Findlay is on the photograph, although he cannot identify him.
He concluded: "If I can find relatives of Mr Findlay I simply wish to ask if they have any photos, or documents about him and in exchange I can give them photos, documents even film footage about the capture of Heinrich Himmler."
