EVERYONE is looking to the New Year's Day Splash for Cash to raise money for the Benarty Fundraisers but a local man had bring his dook forward.

Derek Davidson had to do his Splash For Cash a little bit earlier due to his wife Michelle’s father sadly passing away on Christmas Day in the United States.

Derek arrived at Lochore Meadows Country Park a little surprised to see a goodly gathering of supporters to cheer him on.

To be honest the weather was very kind and Derek, accompanied by two eager dogs, hit the loch at noon on Wednesday and was delighted with the backing he was given by the public as he raised £600.

Said the Fundraisers' James Fotheringham: "Due to receiving the very sad news of his wife Michelle’s dad sadly passing away on Christmas Day in America Derek undertook to do his Splash on Wednesday.

"He wishes he could have been there on New Year's Day with all the other Splashers but they have to fly to the USA before the weekend. We wish them a safe journey to Chicago and our condolences at this very sad time."

Thanks to photographer Derek Johnstone we capture the early Splasher at the Meedies.

The main event takes place on Tuesday at noon at the country park.
