THE Santa Benarty Christmas Street collection was done over four nights, going round all the streets in the Benarty area.

Then it was followed up by the children's Christmas Party on Saturday.

The sleigh looked fantastic after local lad Robert Ford gave the lights an upgrade that was paid for through the Community Council's small wind farm grants.

All the sweeties were paid for by OBB Builders Lochgelly.

Benarty Fundraisers' James Fotheringham said: "We would like to thank Duncan and Lisa Reid, from Crosshill, for accommodating our sleigh with a safe place to park up.

"When the shout was given for volunteers in they came with great Christmas spirit, we were very short handed and this was great to see a lot of new faces coming forward.

"The people of Benarty came out and wished Santa and his Elves all the best".

Added James: "We had some people that had saved up loose change in wee bags and tubs just for us coming round and we had one in particular the Page Family who had saved up over £90 in their coin box. We had hot drinks and nice things to eat all handed in as we made our way round the streets.

"Santa Benarty would like to thank everyone that helped in anyway and we would be here all week if I even tried to mention them all".

The Christmas Party took place at Lochore Institute on Saturday night.

Laurayne Kyle, from Children's Dream Parties, Livingston, kept all the kids very entertained the whole night along with Santa Benarty and Bing the Bear and the Grinch!

Said James: "Special thanks has to go to Benarty Bereavement Group, who donated £100 to go towards the Kids Christmas Party.

"They have proved themselves very strong supporters of many events within the community.

"Also all the staff at Lochore Tute who always make it a lot easier to host these parties and they are always happy to help and have been great over the years."
