MARGUERITE Henderson was presented with a cheque for £7,855 after two fundraising gigs were held for her.

The Crosshill woman has endured a torrid year after contracting sepsis from a paper cut, resulting in her limbs being amputated.

She was placed in an induced coma for a week in February as her family were told by doctors to prepare for the worst.

She managed to pull through and a fundraising page was created by her family in efforts to raise £80,000 for a special wheelchair, bionic hand and prosthetic legs.

Bands in Dunfermline rallied and organised two Music for Marguerite gigs at the Glen Pavilion and PJ Molloys to aid the cause.

Lorraine Petrie, organiser and a close friend of Marguerite’s said: “The bands have been amazing in giving up their time and playing to raise money for her.

“The response has been really overwhelming and I’d like to say a big thank you to all of them for coming forward to take part. They’ve been fantastic.”

The first gig at the Glen Pavilion was held in June, with a second night in PJ’s taking place in September.

Lorraine commended her friend for showing “amazing strength” after an horrendous year.

She said: “Marguerite has really been amazing.

“It’s incredible to see how far she’s come after everything that’s happened. She’s been so, so strong.

“She was in a coma but came back fighting.

“She’s been so grateful for the support she’s received and has been quite overwhelmed by it all.

“I think everybody and their dog has raised money to help her! It’s been great to see everyone come together and I’d like to thank everyone who has donated and helped us this year.”
