COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing wants a meeting with ScotRail early in 2019 to express her dissatisfaction of the quality of services on the Fife Circle.

Ms Ewing is seeking a meeting early in the New Year with Alex Hynes, Managing Director of Scotrail.

Speaking on Friday Ms Ewing said: “Along with my three Fife constituency MSP colleagues I am seeking a meeting with Alex Hynes in early January.

“The New Year is seen by many as an ideal time for making resolutions about improving yourself and I want to see that approach from ScotRail regarding the Fife Circle.

“Every other day, I receive complaints from constituents about various failings on the route and that is just not acceptable. I have absolutely no doubt that my colleagues are in the same position."

One day last week there were four trains cancelled serving the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

On Friday morning there were two cancelled leaving some very unhappy travellers.

The Cowdenbeath MSP is getting considerably annoyed at the problems being caused for constituents by what she feels is a totally inadequate service being provided by ScotRail.

Users of Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and Cardenden stations are frequently finding services connecting the area with Edinburgh cancelled.

Ms Ewing added: “Fife Circle needs - as a priority - to see some of the freed up trains which should be available following the delivery of the new Hitachi trains elsewhere on the network and I will be making that case again to Scotrail, forcibly.

“Fife commuters deserve better.”

The Hitachi trains are to be used on the Glasgow-Edinburgh route and some of the current stock on that line moved to other routes such as the Fife Circle to improve the quality of carriages. However, will that stop the cancellations.
