THE schools and nursery in Benarty are the proud owners of new road safety measures.

Benarty Community Forum, along with Benarty Centre Management, have purchased three sets of pop-up police for St Kenneth's RC Primary School, Benarty Primary school and Dunmore Nursery.

This was trialled at the primary schools some time back and proved to be a success in encouraging motorists to drive more carefully when driving past the schools and also when parking in the vicinity of the schools and nursery.

The two groups thought that by providing the pop-ups it would help the schools and the pupils with the signs.

The Forum's Michael O'Hare said: "Fife council did say that the signs would be provided but the schools would have to pay for them out their own budget.

"This is when the two groups came together and purchased them.

"The pupils at the schools and nursery will take ownership of the signs and put them out every morning and take them back in at the end of the day".

This was also assisted by the Crime prevention panel which helped with the process.

Added Michael: "We hope that with the new signs in place, drivers will take more caution when driving past and parking near the three premises".
