STAFF at ExxonMobil’s Fife Ethylene Plant have supported local community groups over the festive period with the donations of food, gifts and toys.

Around 500kg of long-life food, including tinned meat, pasta and powdered milk, was shared between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy food bank bases on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

In addition, children’s presents were dropped off by members of staff at the Cottage Family Centre in Kirkcaldy.

The Dunfermline Food Bank supplies the Cowdenbeath and Benarty facilities based at the Fountain Rooms in Cowdenbeath and the Crosshill Centre, in Benarty.

Catherine Cubitt, community affairs co-ordinator at FEP, said: “Donating to food banks resonates with many members of our team.

"We are keen to help in the community in any way we can and everyone wants to make sure people have enough to eat, particularly at this time of year.”

In recent months, staff at FEP have supported the Scottish Poppy Appeal as well as making donations to veterans’ charity Erskine, Aberlour Children’s Charity, MS Society, SAMH and Alzheimer Scotland.

Around 180 employees and 50 core contractors work at FEP, with more than 60% living within six miles of the plant at Mossmorran.
