THE challenges that the postal workers in Cowdenbeath face over the next few days were outlined to the local MSP on Wednesday.

Cowdenbeath MSP Annabelle Ewing paid an early morning visit this week to the Royal Mail’s Delivery Office in the town where she was shown round by manager Gary Mitchell and introduced to staff who are working hard to sort and deliver all cards and presents in time for Christmas.

Speaking on Wednesday Ms Ewing said: "It was great to meet the hard-working Royal Mail employees at the Cowdenbeath Delivery Office and to see at first-hand just how much effort they put into delivering for people during the festive season.

“Posties do such an important job throughout the year but the extra pressures on them at this time are immense so I wanted to thank them for their efforts and to wish them all the very best over this busy festive period.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind all my constituents of the last posting days which are Thursday December 20 for 1st class items, Tuesday December 18 for 2nd class items, Saturday December 22 for special delivery items.
