COWDEN are set to meet Glasgow Rangers on Friday January 18 with a 7.45pm start.

It was announced today match will be televised on satellite station Premier Sport and will mean an increased cash bonus for the Blue Brazil.

The glamour tie with Steven Gerrard's side had guaranteed Cowden a windfall of more than £30,000 but the television company's successful bid for one of the William Hill fourth round ties will see this increased substantially.

The club's directors had hoped that this could happen with this being Gerrard's first ever Scottish Cup-tie and of course there is also the connection that Cowden chairman Donald Findlay was once a prominent director of Rangers.

Director David Allan said: "This is something we had hoped to get news of and it gets the club increased coverage by the TV cameras coming to Central Park.

"It is unusual to have a game on a Friday night but we are pretty confident that the capacity of just over 4,200 will be reached and the boost to the coffers from TV coverage could lift Cowdenbeath's profit from the tie to upwards of £70,000, which is very welcome income.

"It is a glamour tie for us and an evening which everyone will want to enjoy."

It should be noted that when tickets for home supporters go on sale those available for purchase by Cowdenbeath fans will initially be sold on a priority basis.

The categories of purchasers with priority will be Club Shareholders, Season Ticket and Half-Season Ticket Holders, 100 Club members and subscribers to the Blue Brazil Bonus Ball Lottery. Thus if someone falls into all four of these categories they can purchase up to 4 tickets. If someone qualifies in just one of these categories one ticket can be purchased (and obviously 2 if in 2 categories and 3 if in 3)".
