THE first over 65 Xmas Meal ever organised by the Crossgates and Mossgreen Community Council, was held in the Lodge 540 Club and it turned into a superb day.
The event was extremely well received and everyone enjoyed a highly successful event.
There were 65 residents of the villages in attendance and the room was well and truly filled, with only a couple of seats vacant!
Two local Councillors, Alex Campbell and Darren Watt, lent their support by attending and mixing with the residents.
Funding was received from Fife Council and other donations, and Lodge 540 kindly gave the Community Council the use of their premises, their facilities and of course their helpful staff Garry and Hugh, who also set up the room for them and manned the bar on the day.
Council chair, Maureen Cuthbertson, said: "The Community Council would like to thank everyone who contributed to this successful event, a first for this Community Council, and we look forward to running this again.
"A special thanks to the caterer, Mary Ross, who provided a splendid three course meal that was truly enjoyed as could be seen from the empty plates afterwards.
"Those attending also enjoyed a free drink during their meal and took a "Xmas Prezzie" home with them.
" Also a big thanks goes to the entertainers, Robbie Carran and Jamie Dee, who had the room singing and ringing, and dancing in the seats, as there was not much room otherwise!
"We are indebted to the Community Council members and other villagers who organised and attended to everyone's needs on the day. A great day all round and sincere thanks to all involved."
The Community Council were delighted that they took the step of organising this event for the village's senior citizens and they want to repeat it in 2019.
