THE miners who died in the Lindsay Colliery Disaster in Kelty will be remembered on Friday December 14 at a service being held at the village community centre.

It will be exactly 61 years to the day on Friday 14th that the Disaster occurred which claimed the lives of nine pit men at the Lindsay.

The new chair of the organising committee, Claire Campbell, hopes that there will be a good turn out on the 14th.

She said: "It is unusual that the night of the service coincides to the day of the disaster so we would like a big number of people at the miners memorial at the community centre off Main Street.

"Things get underway at 7pm but an exhibition on the Lindsay Disaster will be running in the Community Centre from Tuesday December 11 through to 17th December so people are welcome to go and have a look at the exhibition before or after the service."
