CROSSGATES and Mossgreen Community Council were concerned with road safety issues at their meeting.

Residents are still concerned over the dangers of crossing the very busy roads which provide the access the Park and Ride facility at Halbeath.

Duncan Collier, of Collier Quarrying and Recycling, attended the meeting and gave a brief outline of his planning application to extend the area at the existing quarry to extract stone at Goat Quarry.

A public meeting went ahead on Friday November 23 in Crossgates Community Centre for local residents to go along, air concerns and seek answers to questions.

Duncan also invited the members present to visit the existing quarry site when he would provide further background information, answer questions and show them around. Eight members took up this offer.

Grants’ lorries appear to have been speeding through the village again, it was contended.

The community police officer reported that there was little crime in the village apart from some reports of vandalism to cars, which they will pay more attention to.

Unfortunately speeding continues to be an issue, with reports of vehicles going too fast both entering and leaving the village.

There was a public meeting of Crossgates Village Parks group on Thursday November 22, attended by the trustees and a representative from Fife Council.

This enabled local residents to air concerns and gather information on the proposal for use of the green space at Windmill Knowe;

ExxonMobil have provided 40 free tickets for the pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, showing at Lochgelly Centre on December 5.

These tickets are for senior citizens and include free bus travel.
