COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing has praised the facilities offered to the town by the new Maxwell Centre in Stenhouse Street.

She was delighted to be able to visit the new Maxwell Community Centre in Cowdenbeath which was officially opened last month.

Commenting on that visit, Ms Ewing said: “Many thanks to Larry Donaldson for showing me round the new Maxwell Centre.

“It was a real pleasure to see what this very impressive new facility has to offer the local community, including a range of meeting rooms, IT tuition space, a training kitchen for young folk, and a function suite with bar area.

“It was great to catch up with well-known local volunteer, Danny Kinloch, and his Happy Day’s Club volunteers. I commend them for the great work they do.

"Danny sat on the Maxwell Group Advisory body and I entirely agree with him that it would be a great idea for an Open Day to be held at the new Centre to which all local groups can be invited so they can see for themselves the excellent facilities available".

The MSP concluded: “Although community groups in Cowdenbeath remember with great fondness the former Broad Street Community Centre, this new facility will be a real benefit for the local community and we need to make it work for all.”
