A MAN who assaulted his partner and then breached bail by moving to London and missing court dates has been jailed for nine months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Thirty three year old Jason Wright was originally sentenced to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community for the offences.
But he failed to comply with the two 100 hour-orders and appeared from custody back at Jedburgh Sheriff Court where he received jail sentences totalling 270 days.
The court heard how Wright, formerly of Galalaw Road in Hawick, turned up at the home of Ashley Gallagher in Queens Drive, Hawick, back in May assaulted her by repeatedly punching her on the head to her injury.
She suffered swelling to her right cheek .
Defence lawyer Ross Dow said his client had been in a relationship with Miss Gallagher for two years but they had both been drinking that day and there was a falling out.
Mr Dow added: "He is full of regret".
