THE two Indian children whose education is being sponsored by Cowdenbeath Rotary Club have written telling the rotarians about their progress.

The sponsorship has been done through the Jo Homan Trust which was has helped thousands of children in India and the Sub Continent progress their education.

Joe Homan, who founded villages for poor and destitute children in southern India, died in March aged 85 but his good work goes on through the Trust and the Cowdenbeath connection with Madurai Sevashram and S Parhiban is helping them do well.

The Joe Homan charity aims to help disadvantaged children and improve their opportunities and lifestyle by encouraging them to obtain education, and vocational training to develop their self-esteem, thus enabling them to break out of the poverty trap.

The club's International convener Tom Russell said the two young people are delighted with the £200 plus each this year the club is backing them with and it is ensuring their education is progressing well.

Tom said: "We are planning that Madurai and the young lad S Parthiban will benefit as much as Annakodi did did over the ten years we supported him in him in becoming a trained mechanic.

"They have written and said that things have gone well this year and in hope to progress as well in 2019."
