A SPECIAL commemoration event is being held at Lochgelly High School this coming week to remember those who fell in the First World War.

The school's S3 History class, assisted by S2 Social Studies classes, have been learning about the First World War with a focus on the Lochgelly area.

Said Shelley Nicholson, PTC Social Studies: "The pupils have created a museum that they are looking forward to showcasing this coming week to their parents and carers and the wider community.

"The young people have worked exceptionally hard and will be offering tours around the museum to demonstrate the knowledge they have gained and to develop and enhance their own leadership and communications skills."

The event is a drop-in style one on Thursday from 4.30pm to 7pm with refreshments provided.

Members of the public in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area would be welcome to go along and have a look at the museum in this the days leading up to the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
