MSP Alex Rowley has criticised the move by Edinburgh Airport to increase drop-off charges at the airport.
A price increase will be coming into force on Thursday November 8 which will see drivers forced to pay £2 for five minutes and £4 for up to ten minutes.
Parking for up to 20 minutes will increase from the previous fee of £5 up to a staggering £10 charge.
Speaking about the news of the planned fee increases, Kelty based MSP for Miod Scotland and Fife, Mr Rowley said:
“These fees are obviously a complete rip-off for passengers of the airport. It is quite simply another way for the airport to squeeze more and more money out of its customers.
“It is bad enough charging people £2 or £4 to simply drop someone off, or pick someone up, but if there is a delay, that cost will increase for people waiting to pick up their family or friends.
“Airport chiefs have doubled the previous fees to further maximise their profits and it is simply not fair on customers. I have written to Edinburgh Airport and asked them to look again at these proposals and realise that this move simply isn’t fair.”
