COWDENBEATH Civic Week Committee has a busy run-up to Christmas planned.

The events will include a party-time and of course, the switch-on of the town's Christmas Lights.

Things will get going on Saturday November 24 with a Scottish Night.

The Scottish Night is back at the Broad St Bowling Club. Tickets are £5 and include some traditional Scottish food, live music, Highland dancing and a cheeky wee refreshment! Tickets are on sale now from Co-op (Dalbeath Crescent), Hallmark (High Street) and the Broad Street Bowling Club.

On Friday 30th – Santa Comes to Town and the Lights Switch-on will happen from 5pm to 7pm at the “Community Square" (opposite Partners Bar) on the High Street.

Said the Civic Week Committee's Claire Morgan: "We are delighted to welcome Little Fix, who were voted the UK's No1 tribute act in 2017, back to entertain everyone at the Lights Switch-on

"Santa will travel down the full length of Broad Street on his sleigh and will disembark on the High Street at the “Community Square” to take part in switching on the Christmas lights".

And the momentum doesn’t end here for the Civic Week Committee. The following day, Saturday December 1, they are holding a double event at Beath High School!

From 1pm to 4pm there is the Christmas Fair with free entry. Browse the craft stalls, pick up some unique Christmas gifts from local crafters and local groups, grab a cuppa and a cake and get into the festive spirit. There will also be an opportunity to visit Santa’s grotto and have your photo taken for a small charge.

Meanwhile between 2pm and 4pm the Children’s Annual Christmas Party will take place.

Added Claire: "This event has been a sell out for the last four years and we hope that 2018 is no different.

"There will be bouncy castles, DJ/Disco, entertainment from Cobblers the Clown, games, dancing and most importantly – fun to be had! "Tickets for this party cost £3 per child – all children must be accompanied by an adult who go free".

Tickets for this event are on sale now from Beath Bargain Store, Hallmark, Precious Events & Lucie Sue Gifts on the High Street and the Co-op (Dalbeath Crescent) and Raja Bros (Moss-side Road).

"There will also be an opportunity for the children to visit Santa in his grotto and have their photo take for a small extra charge. And while the children are enjoying themselves the parents can visit the fair next door for a wee shopping opportunity!", added Claire.

There will also be, on Friday December 7, a Christmas Party Night, at Hill of Beath Club, 6.30pm-12.00am, hosted by Precious Events, with all profits going to Cowdenbeath Civic Week’s programme of events! Tickets Cost £25pp and include a drink on arrival, 3 course meal, Silent Disco & Party Night. So if you still have to organise your work night out or just fancy a wee night out then get in touch with Hazel from Precious Events on 07747 014896.

And it doesn’t stop there…….. on the September 17 the Cowdenbeath Community Choir recommenced. This year’s Christmas Concert is planned for Sunday December 16 and more details will follow in the coming weeks. For those who have been to the previous concerts there will be some old favourites in the line up as well as some new songs that will, without the doubt, get people singing along and well into the festive spirit!

Then there will be New Year’s Day Loony Dook!
