THE Cowdenbeath Community Police team is being backed by the Central Fife Crime Prevention Panel in two initiatives.
The Panel's meeting on Wednesday heard from member of the Community team, PC Gary Chrystal, that they were involved in a Child Sex Exploitation initiative.
‘Safe Skills’ will be offered through the initiative with the aim of giving children and teenagers the knowledge and ability to counter older people trying to groom them online and in person.
PC Chrystal added: "Our Community Sergeant, Caine McIntyre, is spearheading the CSE initiative locally and he is looking to buy leaflets to support the venture."
The Panel decided to give Sergeant McIntyre £200 to use for the purchase of the leaflets.
Meanwhile a further £100 was donated to allow them to purchase a Cowdenbeath Community Police Team banner which could be used at events they were attending.
