THE attraction that Lochore Meadows is for the cycling was shown by the Scottish CX Series races last Saturday.

Kinross Cycling Club organised the fifth in the series and it attracted more than 500 cyclocross competitors to the Meedies.

There were also 100 plus young riders from the Lothians, Glasgow, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands as the park was packed with cyclists and spectators.

Riders in the senior races faced the spiral of doom and the course was pretty fast and flowing. The event was Round 5 in the series.

Park Manager Ian Laing was delighted with the day which went ahead despite the damage caused by vandals a few days before.

He said: "Kinross CC did a fine job of organising the event and it was marvellous to see so many cyclists enjoying taking on the track.

"The cafe was buzzing and it was great to see the Willie Clarke Centre so busy."

Benarty Community Council and Meadows Advisory Board member Brian Menzies was highly enthusiastic about the event he saw: "It was brilliant to see people of all ages enjoying the track set out at the Meedies.

"There must have been almost 2,000 people involved in what was happening, between riders, supporters and family members."

The Meadows has certainly become a fixture on the cards of many cyclocross competitors.

Meanwhile Brian and his fellow Advisory Board member, Willie Clarke, hope to see the playpark at the park extended to include facilities for children with special needs.

Our pictures from Brian show the park busy during the cycling event and summer.
