LOCHGELLY'S veteran cyclist Andrew Greenhorn was delighted that the team he put together in June for the CHAS Lochgelly-Milnathort-Lochgelly, 24 mile challenge raised well over ££2,500 for the children's hospice charity.

The 76 year-old was delighted to have 11 other cyclists join him on the run and they included 10 year-old Carter Greig.

Said Andrew: "It was brilliant to have young Carter aboard and he did so well as did his dad Blair.

"Indeed, it was a very hot day in June and around the half way stage his grandad, who was watching felt he was wilting and suggested he run him home but the youngster insisted on continuing and he did superbly well in completing the course.

"It was an all round fine performance from the 12 of us who took part and the total raised was £2,731.26."

Andrew received a letter from CHAS thanking everyone for their magnificent fundraising and he said that he was already looking forward to the 2019 run.

He added: "We were fortunate to have great backing from a lot of people, including Mrs Brown's Buns Cafe in Bank Street, who provided much needed refreshments for us when we finished.

"I would hope that we could maybe get another few keen cyclists to join us next summer."
