CARDENDEN Community Council nominated Fiona Soutar and Elaine Collins for a Paths for All award for their work to create new footpaths in the Pitcairn area of Cardenden.

The local Ramblers Group were awarded £10,000 from the Tesco Bags Fund to create the paths, in conjunçtion with the Forestry Commission, which links up with Fife Council's core path network and the Pilgrim's Way route.

Members of the Ramblers Group, along with local councillors, attended a national awards ceremony last month at the Scottish Parliament, where projects from all over Scotland were showcased.

As there was insufficient time to present all the awards, the Community Council were asked to present theirs locally.

So Fiona and Elaine were delighted to receive their recognition at Thursday's meeting.

Said Community Council chairman David Roy: "A big 'well done' to all the members of the group and especially Fiona and Elaine, they deserve it."

The Ramblers spent a lot of time and effort trimming paths that had become overgrown and their efforts brought new life to these.
