A KINGLASSIE woman and University of Dundee student will swap her studies for scissors this weekend as she cuts off 33 inches of her hair to fundraise for MacMillan Cancer Support.
Danielle Naylor, a third-year Art and Philosophy student at the University’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, has decided to honour family members and loved ones who have passed away or are currently battling cancer by cutting off all her hair.
Inspired by her nine year-old niece, Mirryn, who shaved her own hair earlier this month, Danielle hopes to raise more than £700 for MacMillan Cancer Support.
The 20-year-old, from Kinglassie, said, “I am really excited for Saturday when I will take on the challenge in the Mitchell Hall. "It still hasn’t sunk in yet that I’m shaving all my hair but funnily enough I miss my hair already, even though I haven’t parted from it yet. "It’s bound to be an amazing day and I’m so excited to share it with everyone".
Added Danielle: “Supporting the fight against cancer is a subject close to my heart so I am excited to give up something so personal. "My hair is 33 inches from root to tip so it will be a huge change but I am up for the challenge.”
Danielle will brave the shave on Saturday 20th October at the Kinglassie Mitchell Hall and those wishing to donate can do so here: https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/danielle-naylor
