A MAJOR appeal was launched by a Cardenden family to raise £100,000 so that nine year-old Alfi Taylor can be allowed to walk normally and this weekend one of the fundraisers with a difference is taking place.

The family has set up a Just4Children page, which needs public support so that Alfi can receive life changing SDR treatment, to give him the chance of walking unaided.

Said Alfi's mum, Chloe Taylor: "Alfi is just nine and was born unexpectedly at a frightening 29 weeks gestation.

"He was to spend the next six weeks of his life in the special baby unit.

"Adjusting to the shock of the early arrival of our beautiful little boy we were then faced with some devastating news. Alfi had cysts on his brain but also suffered a bleed on the brain as well, resulting in our son being diagnosed with cerebral palsy".

Added Chloe: "Just4Children needs to raise funds to send Alfi over to the St Louis, USA, to have the life changing Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) operation that will give him a chance of walking unaided and the confidence to live a more independent life.

"So, please we are asking for help, to help my son gain a more enjoyable, flexible, pain free life".

This Saturday night, at Dundonald Institute, a Fundraising Evening of Mediumship is being held by Simon McKenzie and the Phsychic Sisters. Things start at 7pm and tickets are £10 and includes a buffet.

Tickets can be obtained by a call to either 07710419908 or 07831967881.

Added Chloe: "We have the Just4Children page but we are hoping to hold such things as a race night, coffee mornings, kids fun day, adults' nights, quiz nights, sponsored walks, swims, cycles, discos, bag packing, absolutely anything."
