THIS week's Down Memory Lane pictures have been submitted by one of our exile readers Karen Thomson.

Karen is formerly from the Benarty area but has lived in Warwickshire for more than 30 years.

She talked about how she saw the pit waste of Lochore Meadows slowly change from dereliction to a striking country park and has some interesting pictures of the change taking place.

The pictures show one of the transition underway in the early 1970s with green fields merging with one of the remaining bings which was soon to be removed.

Another is of two of the workmen working on clearing the pit waste checking out that a pipe is not damaged during the work while another shows what looks like an explosion taking place, but is in effect one of the earth moving machines working on coal waste.

The last picture was taken in the late 1960s, in the middle of winter, with reclamation work put on hold through the weather!

If you have a picture or pictures you would like to see in our Down Memory Lane column send these to editorial centralfifetimes.co.uk or take them to the Times Office, 17 Bank Street, Lochgelly, on a Monday or a Friday.
