BENARTY Fundraisers are set to have a busy autumn and winter as they continue to seek to back worthy causes in the villages of Glencraig, Crosshill, Lochore and Ballingry.

While their fun venture, the Spooky Walk at Lochore Meadows Country Park, will not take place this year, a whole host of other events are in the pipeline including Benarty's Got Talent, a new feature in their programme.

Things will get underway on Friday October 26 when a Kids Hallowe'en Party takes place at Lochore Institute.

Then the following night, on Saturday October 27, an Adults Hallowe'en Party takes place with fancy dress optional and there will be prizes for the best dressed contender and the scariest!

Tickets are available for this at Benarty Community Shop; Domestic Bliss in Lochore; Benarty Community Centre; or any Fundraiser.

Benarty's Got Talent will take place on Wednesday November 14 at Lochore Institute and is geared to giving young talent in the area the platform to display their skills.

This event will look for young people aged between 8 and 18 to do their utmost to show that they can entertain the public with their acts.

Entrants must live in Glencraig, Crosshill, Lochore and Ballingry, and potential contenders can upload a video from benarty's.got.talent@gmail.com with entries closing on October 29.

A Racenight will take place in Lochore Welfare's Social Club on Saturday November 24 with free admission.

The Fundraisers will be looking for members of the public to sponsor races and horses are now available.

Tickets for the big night on November 14 will retail at £2.50.

There will also be Christmas Parties, and then on January 1, Splash for Cash at Lochore Meadows Country Park.

Said the Fundraisers' Lea McLelland: "Everyone is excited about the programme and Benarty's Got Talent should be a really great event.

"There are some tremendous young entertainers in Benarty and we want to see them on stage and the finals night should be something to remember."

And a special presentation night for 2018 was held recently when £5,000 was distributed to various good causes.

The pay-outs went to a total of 15 organisation, with these ranging from the £1,000 Nancy Fotheringham Award to £100. Most groups received £250.

Added Lea: "The Nancy Fotheringham Award is in memory of a lady who was a very loyal backer of the Benarty Fundraisers in many ways and this year it went to Benarty Events Group for the Christmas lights which will make the area feel really festive this year.

"Almost every age group has been covered and the funds will be of great use to each and every one of them who do good work in Benarty."

Apart from Benarty events Group awards went to the celebration event that was held at the Mining Memorial Garden at The Shank; St Kenneth's P7s; Benarty Parents Council; Kat Flemming's Burlesque Dancing Group; The Cottage Craft Club; the Sarah Hendry Dance Group; Lyndsey Mackie Face Painting; Benarty Kids Community Council; Kids Come First; Lochore Bowling Club; Dunmore and Benarty Babies Group; Lochore Welfare FC and Benarty Kids Messy Play.

Added Lea: "The Fundraisers would like to thank all the volunteers who step up to the plate in making so many good things happen in Benarty for without their help we would not be able to achieve it.

"A special thanks to Janet Dunn at Lochore Institute and Michelle and John Kirkland at the Welfare Social Club for their superb assistance."
