A PAIR of local teenage sweethearts proved good things do last when the celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this week.

Robert and Helen Durham, of Chapel Street, had a party for family and friends on Saturday to mark the diamond occasion.

They had originally met through friends.

"My mate's sister was friends with her and we just met and that was it, we were only 18 years old" explained Robert. "Just over a year later, we got married."

Helen worked in a nursery in Lochgelly while Robert worked with a construction company.

The couple, who are both 79, went onto have three children as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Robert said honesty was the key to a long and happy marriage.

"It is just being straight with each other and being there for one another," he added.
