A MAN was found slumped over his steering wheel shortly after staff at a McDonald’s drive-through restaurant contacted the police.
The staff were concerned about the state of the driver and police found bags of cocaine in his car.
Christopher McDonald, 31, of McGinlay Terrace, Lochore, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on December 29, in Wimbrel Place, Fife Leisure Park, Dunfermline, he drove a car when unfit to do so through drink or drugs.
He also admitted driving without insurance and being in possession of cocaine.
Depute fiscal Alistair McDermid said at 2am, McDonald had gone to the drive-through. Staff contacted the police because he appeared to be under the influence of some substance.
When officers arrived in the area, they found McDonald’s car parked near the Tony Macaroni restaurant.
“He was sleeping, slumped over the wheel. There was food scattered about and it looked like he had fallen asleep while eating," added the depute.
“It took a significant time for them to be able to wake him up and he was put into the back of the police van.”
McDonald was searched and found to be in possession of three bags of cocaine and another two were found in his car with a total value of £250.
Sheriff Charles MacNair called for reports and McDonald will be sentenced on October 31. An interim driving ban was imposed.
