A SENIOR pupil at Beath High School had her say on the future of sport in Scotland.
Alice Fox, 17, is on the Young People’s Sport Panel – a national platform to represent the voice of young people across the country – which was asked for their views at the Inverclyde National Sports Training Centre in Largs.
She was there for a two-day residential programme where they discussed a range of issues.
Alice said: “I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to attend Inverclyde with my fellow team mates. This weekend has been such a fantastic chance to chat with each other, while creating our aims and objectives as a panel for the next two years. Exciting times are definitely on the way.”
Led by sportscotland, the panel plays a key role in influencing decision making and driving change to help shape the future of sport in Scotland.
Alice and 18 other young people were selected from 156 applicants, following a rigorous recruitment process. Over the next two years they will undertake a number of roles including speaking at events, consulting on new initiatives and raising the profile of sport.
Stewart Harris, chief executive of Sportscotland, said: “I have been really impressed by the commitment and passion for sport these young people have, and the impact they’ve made both at a local and national level.
“Alice has shown herself to be a true leader in sport and is part of a really inspiring group who I’m sure will continue to have a positive influence on sport in this country.”
