A COWDENBEATH woman is hosting a charity fundraiser for Scottish soldiers suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Louise Downie decided to help after news last month of the number of veterans who commit suicide. It was reported that six current or former armed forces members took their own lives in the space of just eight days.

She will be hosting a fundraising event for charity ‘Who Dares Cares’ at Broad Street Bowling Club on Friday November 9 at 7pm.

She said: “I was absolutely overwhelmed to be honest and I’ve got a couple of friends that have been in the forces.

"I just thought we need to do something to help them and when I looked into it I found this charity, Who Dares Cares, that are doing some great work.

"It’s run by two veterans who do some crazy challenges to raise money. I can’t do a 60-mile trek, but I thought I could get everyone together!”

The event will include an 80s old school disco, a performance from a drag queen of Kilmarnock, an auction, raffle tickets and Irish bingo.

The tickets are £10 and include a hot buffet. For info call Louise on 07443 586 850.
