A RANGE of projects aimed at boosting Cowdenbeath are to receive a share of £250,000.

Earlier this year, councillors agreed that an equal share of £1m would be split for economic development between Cowdenbeath, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Leven.

A total of £10,000 will be used for town centre shop front grants, a social media apprentice post is to be created using £25,000 while a £25,000 feasibility study into Cowdenbeath Town House will be undertaken.

A further £25,000 will be used on digital events signage and £50,000 will go into an events manager post and events fund.

An outdoor activity manager will be introduced to maximise opportunities and use at Lochore Meadows and Fife Cycle Park.

And £20,000 will go to the Anim8tes project which aims to map Cowdenbeath Past and Present and encourage more people into the town centre.

Councillor Rosemary Liewald, said: “The work being put together is actually incredible and there is so much going on that we want to promote in terms of outdoor activities and facilities and the regeneration we have going on.

“This is going to be absolutely worthwhile in 10-20 years time.”

Councillor Alex Campbell added: “As much as the money is going there, we have to remember it is not just Cowdenbeath. There is a lot of good work in other areas to be done.”

Convener Linda Erskine said: “We believe by funding these local projects we can help stimulate additional investment by businesses and the wider community. This should lead to more employment opportunities in the area and vacant business premises being filled.”
