AN NHS worker drove dangerously down the A92 while pursuing his ex.

Thomas Smith, 48, of Viewfield Terrace, Lumphinnans, was found guilty after trial.

He had denied that on July 13, 2017, on the A92 near Cowdenbeath, he drove dangerously and that, at 50mph, he drove alongside a car being driven by his ex-partner, remonstrated at her, attempted to pass on the nearside, kicked her car, took hold of and broke the wing mirror. He also denied pulling in front of her car, braking and stopping on the carriageway.

Defence solicitor Peter Robertson said: “He continues to deny the offence, beyond that he is a person of good character. There have been no further repercussions since the incident and they have been separated for some time.”

Sheriff Charles Macnair said: “This was a bad piece of dangerous driving, aggravated by domestic abuse.”

Smith must do 200 hours of unpaid work and he received an 18-months driving ban.
