THE creative genius behind the huge mining mural in Cowdenbeath has revitalised Fife College’s Halbeath campus.
Talented community artist Kerry Wilson, whose stunning image of a boy in miner's helmet and boots adorns a wall of Brunton House, was commissioned by the students’ association to celebrate the Year of Young People.
Her inspiring slogan ‘Create Your Future’ sits on a canvas of paintings of trees and patterns which blend into the surroundings of the front wall.
She said: “I’ve really enjoyed creating the college mural and it was great to meet so many people willing to lend a hand – that’s what community art is all about!
"I’ve had loads of positive feedback. It’s great to produce something which you know will be seen and hopefully enjoyed by so many people."
Kerry has her own business as a community artist and has been tasked with painting external designs across Fife to help revitalise communities.
She added: "It has been such an exciting project to work on, especially as I hope to have a career in art.
"I have really enjoyed seeing the impact the art has on the local community and I hope to work on more projects like this in future."
