NEW fire alarms, ceilings and lighting have been installed at Hill of Beath Primary School as part of £3.5 million summer improvement works.
Fife Council carried out jobs across the Kingdom while pupils were on holiday.
Raymond Johnston, service manager in property services, said: “The school summer holidays provide a six-week window of opportunity to carry out significant improvement works to the school estate without affecting term-time school activity.
"This year has delivered a varied and extensive programme of school projects worth £3.5m.”
The summer projects were completed on schedule and sit alongside a list of longer term improvements, such as the £300,000 refurbishment of the toilets at Lochgelly High School, that are taking place.
Louise Playford, service manager for the school estate, said: “I am delighted by the success of the summer holiday programme which saw improvements at a number of our schools.”
