AFTER being forced to cancel the previous Sunday's Cardenden Village Fair due to a horrendous weather forecast, the organising committee were anxiously looking at the possible conditions for the weekend's event.

But there was nothing to worry about on Sunday as the 2018 Cardenden Village Fair went ahead with hundreds of people going to Wallsgreen Park in warm, if a little cloudy, conditions.

The committee were happy that the vast majority of the attractions booked for previous week were able to be at Wallsgreen on Sunday.

They did lose Remus Equestrian and the MAC Bus was in for servicing at the weekend, which was a pity but the kids enjoyed some bouncy fun with Andrew Masterton’s inflatables!

During the afternoon there were performances in the centre area by the Suzette Twirlers, Bowhill Karate Club, and Sarah Hendry’s Highland Dancers, so there was plenty for people to enjoy.

Between the performances there were a series of the popular children’s races with, John Gilfillan, the local undertaker, organising these for all age groups with the winners being well rewarded with lovely medals.

John is a regular at all the local gala events and his races are a very valued part of the day.

Around the performance area there were many stalls from local charities and causes plus information on local groups.

Central Fife Crime Prevention Panel were in attendance once again at the Village Fair.

The Panel's vice-chair, Dave Roy, said: "There was a great turnout as usual at the Fair and we were able to pass on lots of tips and advice to the public on how to keep safe.

"The recently procured new attack alarms and CCTV cameras went down a storm and the many Card Defenders passed to the public on the day will certainly help to reduce people's contactless cards from being scammed when they're out and about". The Panel's stall was also visited by local Councillors Rosemary Liewald and Linda Erskine and MSP Annabelle Ewing.

On top of community safety advice buying beautiful unique gifts from wonderfully talented crafters was part of the day.
