AFTER being forced to cancel Sunday's Cardenden Village Fair due to a horrendous weather forecast, the organising committee are going ahead with their plans to hold the event this weekend.

The committee took their decision on Saturday after the forecast for Sunday was one of heavy rain and they were justified as it proved to be a total washout.

However, undeterred they have re-arranged things for this Sunday at Wallsgreen Park with an 11.30am start.

Secretary Janet Ann Archdale reported this week that the vast majority of the attractions booked for last Sunday will go on this Sunday.

Said Janet: "What a disappointment it was the way things turned out after the forecast being reasonably promising earlier in the week.

"However, we made the right decision to postpone things because Sunday was a very poor day weather wise.

"However, we have re-arranged things for this Sunday at Wallsgreen and hopefully everything will go ahead well."

The weather forecast for the weekend currently says there will be no rain at all on Saturday and Sunday.

Added Janet: "The Falconry have said they were quiet in September so so hopefully they will be putting on a display.

"We had a meeting on Monday night and it's looking fairly good at the moment but we lost Remus Equestrian and the MAC Bus is in for servicing this weekend, which is a pity!"

However, the Cardenden Village Fair is set to go ahead this Sunday 11.30am to 4pm.
