A Ballingry man has appeared in court for having two stun guns disguised as mobile phones in his possession without the approval of the authorities.

Howieson, 58, of Kirkland, Avenue, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He previously admitted that on November 18 at his home address he did have in his possession, without the authority of the Secretary of State or the Scottish Ministers, a firearm which was disguised as another object, did have in his possession an air weapon without holding a certificate in that he did have in his possession two air pistols and a rifle and possess without holding a firearm certificate a live bullet.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said his client was a "hoarder" and that one of the weapons was a vintage WWII calibre.

He asked the court if a hearing could be fixed where he would be arguing a defence of exceptional circumstances.

The hearing was set for October 9.
