A LOCHGELLY man who was found with £2,424.46 of cannabis money at his home has been placed on a restriction of liberty order for 145 days.

Police had received information in the relation to James Honeyman and his property so they carried out a search warrant.

He told officers that they would find substances beside the couch and 193 grams of cannabis was seen with an estimated value of £1,930.

A further search of the property found a large amount of cash, mobile phones and other equipment also.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court the Crown asked that the £2,424.46 be forfeited.

Honeyman, 39, of Stationhead Road, previously admitted that on December 16 at his address he was concerned in the supplying of a controlled drug, namely herbal cannabis.

Defence solicitor, Alexander Flett, told the Court that his client had a previous conviction for drugs misuse that dated back to 1998.

He said Honeyman had been taking cannabis for his own use to deal with an upsetting family situation and had been selling the substance to fund his own habit.

Sheriff Charles Macnair said: "You have an historic conviction for intent to supply and also have a road traffic offence.

"You are getting very close to a custodial sentence and it's only because of your care responsibilities to your family that I'm prepared to not give you a custodial sentence."

Honeyman was also sentenced to to 225 hours of unpaid work as well as a restriction of liberty order for 135 days. The cash was also ordered to be forfeited.
