POLICE are appealing for witnesses after thieves attempted to steal copper wiring from a power substation in Ballingry.
Westfield Electrical substation was targeted yesterday (Thursday) evening at around 6pm.
The attempt resulted in a power outage at the site.
Inspector Gavin Cameron, from Cowdenbeath Police Station, said: "This incident was a reckless act of stupidity that not only resulted in a power outage, but could have put the suspects and other members of the public at risk of serious injury.
"Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around the sub-station on Thursday evening should contact police immediately.
"We'd also urge anyone with any further information relevant to this inquiry to get in touch."
