A KINGLASSIE actress has her eyes on securing more star performances after appearing on the BBC's Armchair Detective programme.

Farah Ahmed played the role of the Reverend Janette Tranton in the popular daytime show.

Having dipped her toes in the world of acting already, she has previously had parts in the feature film Happyland, about the mining industry which was shot in Central Fife, as well as The Royal and Bollywood film Bothnort.

"There were 20 episodes in the series and I was episode 18," Farah told the Times.

"I got a casting call through my agent. I did the audition and didn't hear anything for a wee while then I got an email saying I had been selected for Reverend Janette Tranton. "Being a woman and being Asian, it wasn't a role I expected to get. The best comments I have received is it was lovely performance and not one has said I wasn't the right stereotype for the role they have looked totally past that.

"Tiger Aspect, as a production company, has been totally fantastic. They had 20 episodes and they actively picked all Scottish actors and that is great for working actors in Scotland.

"I am very, very proud of Reverend Janette Trantor and am very proud of being given the opportunity to work for such a company as the work they are doing is fabulous.

"When I played my own tape back, I really liked the reverend. I would have loved to do more and keep her going!"

Farah is planning to keep her acting wprk going and has just enrolled in acting night classes with the Royal Conservatoire Scotland which will start in January.

Anyone wanting to see Farah's performance, Armchair Detectives is available on BBC iPlayer now.
