Clyde 1, Cowdenbeath 1.

Ladbrokes League 2.

Attendance-413

A COOL penalty conversion by youngster Harvey Swann, in the last minute of the game, gave Cowden a very valuable point at Broadwood on Saturday.

The 20 year-old left sided player had been hauled down in the Bully Wee box and got up to hit the ball into the net from the spot despite the penalty being delayed after Clyde’s Jack Breslin had been ordered off for a second yellow card at protesting at the award.

It was no more than Cowdenbeath deserved for they created plenty of chances during the game with Josh Morris a real menace.

He had numerous attempts at goal and would feel hard done by that he did not hit the net.

Ryan Connelly also was a thorn in the Bully Wee flesh with his good control while in central midfield Ali Smith and Kyle Miller kept probing for an opening and Brad Smith produced some good touches in the wide areas.

Defensively Cowdenbeath were back to their miserly selves at the back with goalkeeper Joe McGovern producing some good stops and Fraser Mullen and Swann performing well at full-back and the Syme-Rumsby combination locking the door in the centre.

However, they had to weather an early storm from Clyde with Kevin Nicoll, Darren Ramsay and David Goodwillie seeing efforts either saved by McGovern or being blocked.

But in eight minutes a Morris header slipped just wide and then ten minutes later he repeated the dose from the same area of the Clyde box.

McGovern did well to save a Goodwillie drive then Connelly saw the Clyde defence block his fierce shot and as the interval approached Morris saw his shot saved before twice within the space of two minutes Brad Smith fired wide from the edge of the box and then saw home ‘keeper Blair Currie save well from a fizzing 20 yarder.

The second period started with Clyde’s Jordan Stewart seeing McGovern saved well but within seconds Morris’s right foot shot went just wide.

Clyde’s Max Wright went close before, in 65 minutes, Connelly’s shot was well held by Currie and as the game went into the last 20 minutes Clyde stepped up their game and Nicoll’s shot crept wide before Goodwillie’s effort was saved by McGovern but in 75 minutes the hosts scored when Scott Ferguson’s cross gave Bully Wee sub Smart OSADALOR the chance to score from close in.

Cowden went all out for the leveller and a Trialist sub went close before Miller’s header was well saved but with seconds left SWANN was fouled by Barry Cuddihy as he bored into the Clyde box and after Breslin’s dismissal he fired home the spot-kick and there was still time for Jack Whittaker come close to the winner.
