AN open consultation event to allow people to see the proposals for the location of a boat shed at Lochore Meadows Country Park by the University of St Andrews Boat Club is being held next week. University staff will be on hand to answer questions from the public about the plan when the event is held on Tuesday August 22 at Benarty Centre.

The St Andrews Boat Club have become a regular feature on the loch at the country park as members practice for events.

There will also be a regatta on September 9 at the Meadows involving the Boat Club.

The Boat Club's President Matt Taylor said: "The University of St Andrews Boat Club would love to invite people to our Loch Ore Regatta 2017.

"Taking place on September 9 in the heart of Fife, the short sprint regatta will allow athletes of all ages and experience to showcase for one last time their talent, before winter training commences.

"A great day out is promised for all, including spectators, with food, entertainment and great racing!"

Matt added: "Founded in 1965, the University of St Andrews Boat Club has developed from a relatively small, recreational rowing club to the intense, competitive, high performance rowing programme that exists today.

"This development is something that we are extremely proud of and something that we wish to continue to build upon.

"Something that has remained constant throughout those 50 years, however, is the incredibly strong friendships formed and memories made; our University experience is truly enriched by the Club.

"The Club’s success cannot be attributed to one solitary source; our committed athletes, our loyal alumni network, our supportive parents, our hard-working Committee and our experienced and dedicated coaching team, led by Director of Rowing, Iain Rice".

The consultation will run between 2pm and 7pm on Tuesday August 22 in Benarty Centre.
