A KELTY Primary School pupil came up trumps in a competition testing knowledge about the mines which were worked around the village.
Bladyn Fothergill was the winner of the competition run by Kelty Mining Heritage Group, during their recent exhibition in the village Community Centre.
Bladyn correctly identified the scene in the mystery photograph as the Aitken Colliery and his name was drawn out the hat from a large number of correct entries.
The prize was kindly donated by Chris Sparling, the KMHG historical advisor.
As he presented the miniature Glennie (miners’s safety lamp) Chris congratulated Bladyn for finding the scene amongst the many exhibits in the hall. Bladyn proudly displayed his prize surrounded by his P4/5 classmates at Kelty Primary School; Evie Lynch, Niamh Boland, Isla Grey, Rhys Miller and Tyler Brown.
