COWDENBEATH Councillor Gary Guichan and Conservative candidate in the forthcoming council elections, Darren Watt, this week both hit out at the RBS decision to close their branch in the town.
Councillor Guichan said: "It is outrageous that a bank that was saved by the public is turning its back on the people of Cowdenbeath.
"I would encourage people to consider using other banks in the town after this decision which really is a slap in the face for Cowdenbeath public."
Darren Watt commented: ""This is devastating news for the town. Yet another business leaving our High Street and another empty unit.
"However, unlike Kelty, Cardenden and other smaller communities around Fife left with no bank at all, we in Cowdenbeath are rather fortunate to still have TSB and Bank of Scotland at either end of the High Street as well as our Post office. I think we should now turn our attentions to helping our friends, family and neighbours switch to either of these banks".
